The art show comes with the theme “Suddenly awake, suddenly asleep”. After graduation from college, young painters often think about a flourishing future career or have to find ways to make ends meet.

Tran Cuong had the same state of mind, so he chose the above theme for this exhibition.

When he is “awake”, he creates artworks that are easy to sell. But when he is “asleep”, he sees, in his dreams, the artworks that he makes for his own sake, not for earning a living.

The 16 artworks at this exhibition are the result of a seven-month-long state of his being “asleep”.

“Giac mo kho nho” (a dream that is hard to recall), “Giac mo hong” (pink dream), “Co don” (lonely), “Duc vong” (lust) và “Khuc trang ca” (anthem) are the five paintings that depict his unfinished dreams.

The other paintings do not directly portrait his dreams but the memories of childhood, fairy tales, and fantasies of surreal scenes.

The exhibition runs until May 26.
