Painter Le Thiet Cuong and Do Minh Duy have curated two different exhibitions depicting life in the capital.

A Village Market painting at Hanoi/Hanoi show


50 works by 18 artists under the theme of Hanoi/Hanoi show the daily life and scenery of the capital. The exhibition is curated by Le Thiet Cuong and has free entrance on 70 Nguyen Du Street from November 24 to December 24.

Painter, curator Le Thiet Cuong said his passion for art and the desire to support young artists were what made him organise multiple exhibitions at Gallery 39 in recent years. The Hanoi/Hanoi Exhibition is intended to connect more with the public.

"Hanoi has unique characteristics with many famous destinations, pagodas and lakes. I think its beauty is rich for any creative soul," he said.

A painting by Do Duy Minh


Painter Do Minh Duy is also holding an exhibition about Hanoi to November 24. This is his third exhibition in Vietnam with 35 acrylic paintings featuring famous icons of Hanoi such as Long Bien Bridge, the Old Quarter or paintings about Vietnamese women in ao dais by the lotus flowers.

"Through his paintings, Duy shows us a beautiful, undying and mysterious Hanoi," said painter Nguyen Quang Thieu.

Do Duy Minh was born in 1937 in Hanoi. He worked with many newspapers and became a famous illustrator in 1960. In 1968, he became a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. He moved to Canada in 1979 but keeps on painting and most of his works are about Hanoi. His works have been displayed at the Canadian Museum of History and the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum.
