The meeting, led by General Secretary and President To Lam, resulted in the acceptance of several key resignations, reflecting ongoing efforts to uphold Party discipline and integrity.
On August 3, 2024, in Hanoi, the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam convened to discuss personnel matters within its jurisdiction.
During the afternoon session, the Party Central Committee considered resignation requests from several central and local leaders.
General Secretary and President To Lam chaired the meeting on behalf of the Politburo.
Based on reports from the Central Inspection Committee and recommendations from the Central Organization Commission, the Party Central Committee acknowledged that:
- Le Minh Khai, Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister, former Party Committee Secretary, and former Chief Government Inspector.
- Dang Quoc Khanh, Party Central Committee member, Party Committee Secretary, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, former Ha Giang Provincial Party Secretary, and Head of the 15th National Assembly delegation of Ha Giang Province.
- Nguyen Xuan Ky, Party Central Committee member, Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary, and Chairman of the Quang Ninh People's Council.
- Chau Van Lam, Party Central Committee member, Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Secretary, and Head of the 15th National Assembly delegation of Tuyen Quang Province.
These officials violated Party regulations while performing their duties, including the rules against actions that Party members are prohibited from undertaking and responsibilities regarding setting an example and regulations on anti-corruption and anti-negativity. Acknowledging their responsibilities to the Party and the people, these individuals submitted their resignations.
Considering current Party and State regulations and the personal wishes of these individuals, the Party Central Committee agreed to relieve Le Minh Khai of his roles as Party Central Committee Secretary and Party Central Committee member for the 13th tenure. The Committee also agreed to release Dang Quoc Khanh, Nguyen Xuan Ky, and Chau Van Lam from their positions as Party Central Committee members for the 13th tenure.
