The decision was made during a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on November 27 after considering the proposal of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission asking the Secretariat to consider and discipline Vinh.

While serving as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of the MPI, Vinh showed a lack of responsibility when signing the MPI’s Document No.721/BKHDT-KCHTDT dated November 24, 2015 asking the Prime Minister to approve the project’s investment policy.

After hearing some unusual information on the project, Vinh submitted a document suggesting stopping the project, but the Minister of Information and Communications had already approved and implemented it.

Vinh then acknowledged his wrongdoings and accepted disciplinary measures.

Authorised agencies considered the wrongdoings and shortcomings of Vinh and came to the conclusion that strict punishment should be given for his mistakes in line with the Party’s regulations.

The decision of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat was based on Regulation No.102-QD/TW issued on December 15, 2017 by the Politburo on punishment to Party members who commit violations. –VNA
