Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted the importance of the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity to the two countries’ stability and development while receiving Sounthone Sayachac, head of the External Affairs Commission of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, in Hanoi on September 26.

At the meeting, the Lao official briefed her host on recent social-economic affairs in Laos, and cooperation between the commission and its Vietnamese partner.

She also talked about outcomes of the talks with ​her Vietnamese counterpart Hoang Binh Quan, which took place earlier the same day.

The talks saw the two sides discussing past collaboration and measures to implement agreements sealed by Party and Government leaders. On the occasion, Sounthone Sayachac, on behalf of the Lao Party and Government, presented the Lao Freedom and Friendship orders to the Vietnamese Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations for its contributions to Vietnam – Lao special solidarity.

Sounthone Sayachac told Trong that her agency is committed to working closely with the Vietnamese equivalent body in carrying out joint projects and the parties’ agreements, particularly in exchanging information and experience, and in monitoring performances of relevant agencies toward effective implementation of the agreements.

Praising outcomes of the talks, Party General Secretary Trong highlighted contributions of the two agencies to enhancing Vietnam – Laos comprehensive cooperation.

He said the commissions have effectively coordinated activities in celebration of the two countries’ solidarity and friendship year 2017.

“Vietnam will do its bests to work with Laos in preserving and fostering the special solidarity in an extensive, practical, and efficient manner and over sectors,” he noted. 

The Party leader called on both sides to continue supporting each other in the execution of their respective parties’ congress resolutions.

While in Vietnam, the Lao officials will have a fact-finding tour of central Da nang city and visit several economic and culture establishments there, among scheduled activities.
