Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi on January 12 morning for an official visit to China.

The visit from January 12-15 is made at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
The Vietnamese delegation includes Vo Van Thuong – Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education; Pham Binh Minh – Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister; Ngo Xuan Lich – Politburo member and Minister of National Defence; and To Lam – Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, among others.
The visit takes place at a time when the overall Vietnam-China ties are stable with certain progress made in several fields.
It aims at further strengthening bilateral ties and defining the long-term direction for the healthy and stable development of the relations in the future.
The visit is also hoped to create strong changes and improve the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in economic links, thus bringing practical benefits to both nations’ development.
