General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong this morning attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly renovated and expanded headquarters of the Office of the President, located at No. 2 Le Thach, within the historic Bac Bo Phu complex.
Joining them were senior and former leaders of the Party and State, who together participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the new premises.
Speaking at the event, President Luong Cuong emphasized that this is a moment of special significance - not only does it signal the official opening of a critical governmental facility, but it also underscores the continuity between Vietnam’s revolutionary past and its future as a strong, modern socialist rule-of-law state. He stressed that the state must be of the people, by the people, and for the people - particularly in this new era of national development.
The President underscored the historical importance of Bac Bo Phu and its surrounding architectural complex, calling it a sacred national space. It was here that President Ho Chi Minh and the Provisional Government once worked during the earliest days of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
This site, he said, stands as a powerful symbol of Vietnam’s revolutionary government - of independence, self-determination, and legitimacy. It reflects the enduring aspirations for freedom, peace, and the unyielding spirit of the Vietnamese people.
On this occasion, President Cuong expressed his deep gratitude to the Party and State leadership, especially General Secretary To Lam, for their close guidance and dedication throughout the project. He also acknowledged the support and cooperation of central ministries, agencies, and the Hanoi city government.
He praised the Central Office of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Office of the President, as well as the unwavering efforts of contractors, engineers, workers, and staff involved in the project’s execution.
To ensure effective use and management of the facility, the President tasked the Office of the President - now the official managing body - with working closely alongside the Central Office of the Party, the city of Hanoi, and project contractors to oversee operations, safety, and long-term functionality of the building.
Vo Thanh Hung, Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Party, shared that the project encountered and overcame many challenges during its implementation. Despite these difficulties, the team adhered to the original guidelines and complied fully with legal regulations. The resulting structure, he said, successfully combines architectural preservation with modernization, security, and a dignified working environment.
Over the course of 12 continuous months, the renovation was completed on schedule and met all standards of quality, aesthetics, safety, and environmental hygiene.
In the coming period, the Central Office of the Party will coordinate with contractors to review, hand over, and provide training for the units now responsible for managing the site. This is to ensure that all facilities are utilized according to their intended function, preserving and enhancing the value of the building as a symbolically significant seat of government.
