The meeting was held ahead of the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945-2024)

Among the leaders on hand were former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, former National Assembly leaders Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Luong Cuong, and other Politburo members, Party Central Committee members, Deputy Prime Ministers, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, the Vice President, and representatives of ministries.

Ahead of the meeting, the participants observed a moment of silence in honour of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who passed away in Hanoi on July 19.

In his speech, Party General Secretary and President To Lam highlighted major sound achievements recorded in the Party building and rectification campaign and national development in the past months, which he attributed to the efforts of the entire Party, army and people of the entire political system, especially valuable contributions of incumbent leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

However, he noted that unpredictable developments domestically and globally require the entire Party, army and people to stay highly vigilant in all circumstances. In such context, he said the Politburo and the Secretariat are working hard to successfully implement the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Priority will be given to removing institutional difficulties, creating the best possible conditions for all normal activities to take place within the legal framework, thereby facilitating business operations, ensuring social security, and improving people’s material and spiritual life, said the Party chief.

He also stressed the need to step up the ongoing fight against corruption to build a strong Party and promote sustainable economic development.

At the gathering, the Party and State leader also briefed the participants on preparations for grassroots-level Party Congresses in the leadup to the 14th National Party Congress due to take place in early 2026.
