The final performance of the dance drama “The Peacock – Hanoi 2026” on the evening of March 8 at Ho Guom Opera House concluded with prolonged applause from the audience.
Even after the stage lights dimmed, the atmosphere in the auditorium still seemed filled with the emotions of the performance. Many spectators remained seated, gazing at the closed curtain as if hoping to hold on to the lingering resonance of the artistic journey brought by “The Peacock” and the talent of choreographer Yang Liping.

Throughout the performance, the auditorium frequently fell into near-complete silence. Every graceful movement of the dancers and each musical note echoing through the quiet space guided audiences through a wide range of emotions.
At times the atmosphere felt gentle and delicate; at other moments it grew powerful and dramatic as the story reached its climax.
During those moments, the distance between stage and audience seemed to disappear. Each dance movement and musical rhythm became an invisible thread connecting performers and viewers.
Applause repeatedly broke out during the show, not only in appreciation of the dancers’ technical mastery but also as a natural expression of emotional connection between the performers and the audience.
Music, lighting and stage design also played a vital role in shaping the distinctive atmosphere of the performance. Carefully arranged contrasts of light and shadow, along with musical passages that alternated between intensity and calmness, helped highlight the emotional depth of each scene.
“The Peacock” is not simply a dance performance focused on technique. Instead, it creates a symbolic artistic space where the beauty of dance is expressed through both physical movement and emotional depth.

The image of the peacock - a symbol of beauty, pride and aspiration - is reimagined through contemporary stage language, creating a sense that feels both mystical and accessible.
Traditional cultural elements are transformed into modern artistic expressions, allowing audiences to engage with the performance while still sensing the deeper cultural layers embedded in the work.
The harmonious combination of various artistic elements turns “The Peacock” into a subtle dialogue between art and human emotion. Audiences do not simply watch a dance performance but embark on a journey exploring the beauty of movement and the depth of a story told through the human body.
The four-show run in Hanoi offered audiences a variety of artistic experiences, yet all shared one common element: the dedication of the performers on stage.
Every step and gesture was executed with focus and emotional intensity, creating memorable artistic moments.
From the audience seats below, the spectators’ empathy and engagement served as a source of energy for the performers. Many viewers shared that they could feel the subtlety and emotional depth of the work even though the story was conveyed entirely through the language of dance.
The final night ended in a mixture of excitement and emotion. As the curtain slowly closed, many eyes remained fixed on the stage, reluctant to leave the world of “The Peacock.”
