More than 20 art troupes from Vietnam and France will perform at the Performing Arts Spring Festival (PAS 2018) set to take place at the Vietnam National Drama Theatre in Hanoi from May 18 to 20.

PAS 2018 is jointly held by the theatrical practice space ATH and the French school Alexandre Yersin, with the support of the French Embassy in Vietnam. It aims to celebrate all types of performing art by gathering all practices, amateur and professional, in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The 2018 edition gathers 23 groups of children and adults from different art fields including theatre and improvisation, dance and movement, and music.

Besides, a French-speaking improvisation tournament with four teams of players from 12 to 15 years old will be held for the first time this year. The first match will open the festival at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18, preceding ”The next door”, a French play by The Three Mosquitoes company from Bangkok, Thailand.

PAS 2018 is also a forum for multicultural exchange. This year, it is being enriched with the participation of Vietnamese artists in multiple domains such as playback theatre (ViPlayback), experimental theatre (The Run – Tra Nguyen) and contemporary dance (Kinergie Studio). Additionally, Vietnamese and French musicians have teamed up to present their work during the festival.

At the same time, PAS 2018 brings to public various art workshops in three languages, Vietnamese, English and French, on May 19 and 20 at the hall of the National Drama Theatre. Each workshop offers an excellent opportunity to practice for free during one or two hours different genres of art such as drama, puppet, storytelling, creative writing, plastic art and dance.
