At a gas station at 31 Nguyen Van Troi Street in HCMC’s Phu Nhuan District, an automated payment system that connects with four fuel dispensers, on January 15, was put into service to facilitate the new self-service and payment method.

The self-service component is aimed at helping customers refill their vehicles rapidly, a representative of the outlet said, adding that after 15 days of the pilot program, customers proactively researched the service and used it enthusiastically.

The self-service concept gives customers multiple options in terms of amounts of money spent on pumping fuel, volumes of fuel needed and payment methods. Accordingly, customers can manage the fuel injection themselves and pay for self-service through a touch screen installed at each fuel dispenser at petrol stations.

Fuel buyers can use National Payment Services (Napas) cards or debit FlexiCards issued by Petrolimex for their payments.

The new self-service method is popular in many countries, adding convenience and improving the transparency of fuel trading, according to Petrolimex Saigon.

The group will expand and develop the service citywide in the coming period. Besides this, it will upgrade the service to make it compatible with a variety of payment methods.
