According to Lonely Planet, exploring the cave systems of Phong Nha - Ke Bang ranks among the top 10 must-try experiences in the country.

The area is famed for its vast primary forests and colossal caves, including Son Doong, considered the largest cave in the world, which continues to attract adventure travelers from around the globe.

While tours to Son Doong are fully booked through 2026, visitors still have a variety of alternative adventures to choose from, such as En Cave, Tu Lan Cave, and Va Cave. Each offers a distinct, mysterious encounter with nature.

With striking stalactites, stalagmites, and a rich ecosystem, Phong Nha - Ke Bang has become an unforgettable destination for lovers of adventure and eco-tourism.

Meanwhile, Vinh Moc Tunnels also made the top 15 list and are considered a compelling historical site alongside Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City and Hamburger Hill in Hue.

The underground tunnel network preserves powerful evidence of Vietnam’s fierce wartime struggles and reflects the unwavering resilience and determination of local soldiers and residents.

Earlier this year in Hanoi, the “Legendary Truong Son Trail - Command Cave” tour (based in Thuong Trach commune) was honored as a Creative Tourism Product at the 2025 Vietnam Tourism Awards, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism noted that Lonely Planet’s recognition affirms the diversity and appeal of the province’s unique tourism offerings, which focus on cave exploration, history, adventure, and ecological experiences - delivered both in-person and via modern digital applications.

International exposure from prestigious travel platforms continues to elevate Quang Tri’s tourism brand, solidifying its place on both the Vietnamese and global tourism map.
