The old banyan tree on the bell road 2 in Nghia Do, Cau Giay District.

The 20m high banyan tree is more than 100 years old, regarded as the soul and belief of the local community.

The tree has five to six aerial roots. Some altars are set up around the tree. Local people come here to burn incense and pray on the first and fifteenth day of lunar months.

The banyan tree is attached to the childhood of many generations. When the road was built, local people wished to preserve the tree even though it is located amid the road. The people’s wishes were respected by the authorities and the tree is still there.

On Vo Chi Cong Road in Tay Ho district, over 1km from the above tree, a smaller banyan tree also stands amid the road.
