Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural, named the world's largest ceramic mosaic by the Guinness Book of Records, is crumbling with neglect.

The mural, a major project of the Millennial Anniversary of Hanoi, has has many cracks and has lost a number of ceramic pieces. Repair work has been haphazard.

Tran Huy Anh, from the Vietnam Association of Architects, said, "Poor quality repairs shows a lack of understanding about outdoor art, materials and building methods."

Anh Tuan, a local living near the mural said, "What bugs me the most is the hygiene. Pedestrians have to walk briskly to pass several 'toilet' spots and people waiting at bus stops are tortured by those smells. There are huge piles of garbage under Long Bien Bridge."
