"Diego and Frida: Complicities" displays more than 30 reprints of black-and-white photos taken in the first half of 20th century in Mexico by anonymous and renowned photographers.

Visitors look at photos of the "Diego and Frida: Complicities" exhibition at the HCM City War Remnants Museum. 

It portrays Rivera and Kahlo, who participated in the struggling activities for peace and freedom of the Mexican people. Their legendary lives and works have been internationally acknowledged.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Mexican Ambassador Sara Valdes Bolano said: "The exhibition will familiarise us with the historical, political and social context of Mexico in the first half of the 20th century, strongly marked by the Mexican Revolution of 1910."

"It also presents the lives of Frida and Diego, a very close couple and emblematic figures of a generation of artists and intellectuals in defence of the working class, national values and Mexican culture," she said. "Both are considered two pillars of modern Mexican art."

The exhibition has travelled to Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. HCM City is the first venue of the Asia tour.

Huỳnh Ngọc Vân, the museum's director, said "Vietnamese people and international visitors can learn more about the country, people and culture of Mexico, as well as the relationship between Việt Nam and Mexico."

The month-long exhibition, organised by the Embassy of Mexico, the HCM City Union of Friendship Association and the museum, can be seen at 28 Võ Văn Tần Street in District 1.
