VietNamNet Bridge – Seven young men were divided into two groups to race in the opposite directions on the Phu Quoc airport runway. In the middle of the road, they collided with each other. Two people died on the spot and five others were seriously wounded.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of June 12, on the runway of the old Phu Quoc airport in the town of Duong Dong, Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province.

Vo Phi Toan, 18 and Duong Thanh Tuan, 19, lost their lives on the spot. Five other young men were taken to the local hospital for emergency.

Many witnesses said that when the accident occurred, there were dozens of people standing along the runway to fly kites. They saw four motorcycles carrying seven young men, divided into two pairs to simultaneously run from east to west and vice versa.

At mid-way, they crashed into each other, causing terrible sound. Two men died on the spot because of brain injury and broken limbs. Others were in critical conditions because of a lot of injuries.

Phu Quoc district police are investigating the incident.
