The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is positioned as a direct rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series launched in July, while also preparing to compete with the iPhone Ultra, Apple’s first foldable iPhone expected to be introduced in the near future.
Arriving between two major rivals makes the Pixel 11 Pro Fold one of the year’s most noteworthy foldable smartphones.
Google is not focusing solely on design, but is also seeking to differentiate the device through AI processing, security and its Gemini ecosystem.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features an 8-inch Super Actua Flex OLED inner display with an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, a Tensor G6 processor paired with the Titan M3 security chip, a 4,750mAh battery, 30W wired charging and 25W wireless charging.
Its rear camera system consists of three sensors: a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultrawide camera and a 10.8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
8-inch Super Actua display with a thinner, tougher design
On the outside, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a 6.5-inch Super Actua OLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,342 pixels and a pixel density of 399 PPI.
The display supports a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, delivering smooth visuals across tasks ranging from reading and watching videos to gaming.
Peak brightness on the outer display can reach 3,600 nits, although that level can only be sustained across a very small portion of the screen for a short period.
For HDR content, brightness of 2,400 nits should be sufficient to keep the screen clearly visible outdoors.
Google has also equipped the front with highly durable ceramic glass to improve resistance to everyday wear and tear.
The more notable feature, however, is the inner display. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has an 8-inch Super Actua Flex OLED panel with a resolution of 2,076 x 2,152 pixels and a density of 372 PPI.
It also supports a 1-120Hz refresh rate and brightness of around 2,400-3,600 nits.
Beneath the Ultra Thin Glass is a multi-alloy steel hinge system combined with a high-strength aerospace-grade aluminum frame.
This marks a significant improvement over early generations of foldable smartphones, which were often criticized for their fragility and required users to exercise considerable care when opening and closing them.
Google appears to have addressed many of those limitations with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Its design has been refined to offer both slimness and durability, although it does not quite match the strikingly thin profile of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
When folded, the phone measures 155.2 x 76 x 10.1mm. Fully unfolded, it is just 5mm thick. The device weighs 239g.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses durable ceramic glass on the front, a matte composite rear panel and an aerospace-grade aluminum frame.
It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, while the rear coating is designed to reduce fingerprint marks.
In most markets, users can choose between Olive and Obsidian color options.
HiLight brings a new notification light to the back
One of the most immediately noticeable additions to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a circular element on the back. This is HiLight, a feature previously rumored under the name Pixel Glow.
HiLight functions as a visual notification system. When a new notification arrives, the ring illuminates to attract the user’s attention.
This allows users to see that they have a notification without repeatedly checking the screen.
It is a relatively small change, but one that could make the phone more convenient, particularly when it is placed face down or when users do not want to keep turning on the display.
4,750mAh battery, 16GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage
Google says the Pixel 11 Pro Fold can last for more than 24 hours on a single charge. The device has a 4,750mAh battery and supports wired fast charging at 30W or higher. According to Google, it can reach 50% charge in around 30 minutes.
For wireless charging, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold supports up to 25W through the Pixelsnap system.
To handle increasingly complex AI workloads, Google has equipped the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with 16GB of RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
The two higher-capacity versions use Zoned UFS technology to improve storage performance. Instead of writing data randomly, the technology organizes it into defined logical zones, potentially improving the speed and efficiency of flash storage.
Tensor G6 prioritizes AI and security over raw power
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s own Tensor G6 chip.
Like previous generations of Tensor processors, the Tensor G6 is not designed to compete directly with flagship Snapdragon or Dimensity chips purely in terms of raw processing performance.
Instead, Google has optimized the Tensor G6 around AI and security. It is paired with the Titan M3 security processor, which plays a key role in protecting both the device and user data.
Camera hardware plays it safe as AI takes center stage
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a triple rear-camera system. Its 48MP main camera has an f/1.7 aperture and a 1/1.56-inch image sensor, while the 10.5MP ultrawide camera has an f/2.2 aperture and a 1/3.4-inch sensor.
The 5x telephoto camera offers a resolution of 10.8MP, an f/3.1 aperture and a 1/3.2-inch sensor. All three rear cameras support Super Zoom at up to 30x.
On hardware specifications alone, the camera system does not particularly stand out against some competitors. The Honor Magic V6, for example, features a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 64MP telephoto camera and 20MP selfie camera.
Google is therefore continuing to rely heavily on its strength in computational photography. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold supports features including Magic Capture, Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus, Night Sight and Astrophotography.
The outer front-facing camera has a resolution of 10MP, while the camera on the inner display is also 10MP.
Notably, users can take advantage of Edit with Ask Photos, an AI-powered editing tool that allows them to modify images using text or voice commands rather than manually adjusting individual controls.
For video, both the front and rear cameras can record 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second.
The phone also supports slow-motion video at up to 240fps, 10-bit HDR, Night Sight Video, Macro Focus Video and digital video zoom of up to 20x.
Its stabilization system combines optical image stabilization with software processing.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold also supports stabilized 4K timelapse recording, including Astrophotography and Night Sight modes. Audio capabilities include stereo recording, wind noise reduction, speech enhancement and audio zoom.
Gemini puts AI at the heart of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold
AI remains one of Google’s central priorities for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
Users worldwide can access the Gemini ecosystem, with cloud-based reasoning through Gemini Intelligence, fast on-device processing with Gemini Nano and natural voice interaction through Gemini Live.
A range of dedicated Gemini applications is also integrated to expand the phone’s AI capabilities.
In certain markets, including the US, users can access Magic Cue, an intelligent assistant capable of proactively presenting relevant information, personal data and suggested actions while they are typing, making calls or searching.
Circle to Search lets users search for anything displayed on the screen with a simple gesture.
Live Translate provides real-time language translation, while Call Assist can screen incoming calls and support users during conversations.
Google has also committed to seven years of operating system updates, security patches and Pixel Drop updates.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold ships with Android 17, making it one of the first smartphones to benefit from the new operating system.
Theft Protection uses on-device AI together with motion sensors to detect behavior consistent with someone snatching the phone and running away.
When unusual movement is detected, the device can automatically lock the screen even without a network connection.
Inside the phone is a suite of sensors including proximity and ambient light sensors, an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer and Hall effect sensor.
Together, they allow the device to accurately determine orientation, atmospheric pressure and whether the foldable is open or closed.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold supports Dual SIM through one physical Nano SIM slot combined with eSIM. It features stereo speakers and three built-in microphones with background noise reduction, along with Spatial Audio for a more immersive listening experience.
Inside the retail box, users receive the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a one-meter USB-C to USB-C cable supporting USB 2.0 and a SIM ejector tool.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold starts at $1,899
Google offers the Pixel 11 Pro Fold in three storage configurations. The 256GB version is priced at $1,899, while the 512GB model costs $2,019. The top-tier 1TB version is priced at $2,249.
Those are clearly not mass-market prices, particularly as competition in the foldable smartphone segment intensifies.
Still, the entry-level model remains below the $2,000 threshold - an important psychological price point in the premium foldable market.
