Plans by the central city of Da Nang to move its departments and civil servants out of the one-stop shop Administrative Centre need to be open for public comments and further study, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Dang Viet Dung.

Dung made the statement at a recent Question-and-Answer session at the second meeting of the city People’s Council in reply to deputies’ questions about the plan.

The plan to move departments and civil servants out of the VNĐ2.13trillion (US$100 million) building less than two years after it was inaugurated has stirred great concern among residents of Da Nang.

Dung said that the Administrative Centre, the country’s first one-stop shop centre, has proved effective in saving time, efforts and expense for businesses, residents and officials over the past two years of operation.

Sharing the same view, the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Xuan Anh, said the plan is currently under consideration and assessment by authorised agencies.

The Media Task Force of the city announced on Saturday that the Administrative Centre was put into operation on September 8, 2014, housing the municipal People’s Committee and 26 municipal departments. 

The centre helps to save time and cost for local people and businesses and provides better access to municipal authorities, it said.

However, the centre has revealed some shortcomings, failing to meet real operational demand and some technical requirements, it said. 

The municipal People’s Committee instructed authorised agencies to handle these shortcomings. 

According to the media announcement, this is just an initial plan and local authorities have yet to discuss it officially.
