Sound collaboration between the Vietnamese and Lao ministries of home affairs has contributed to fostering the two countries’ friendship, stated Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

He made the remark at a reception for Lao Minister of Home Affairs Khamman Sounvileuth in Hanoi on September 29.
The PM recommended both agencies learn from each other and from other countries in building a lean government apparatus toward cutting quantity of personnel for better quality.
Vietnam is working to scale down the government workforce, improve public agencies’ operation, and crack down on wrongdoings among public servants, the PM added, saying Vietnam’s experience from the work could be useful to Laos.
He affirmed Vietnam is willing to assist Laos in human resources training, particularly in receiving Lao students to study and do research in the country.
Phuc urged the two ministries to continue their practical engagements and directed other Vietnamese agencies to boost experience exchanges with their Lao counterparts.
For his part, Minister Khamman Sounvileuth said his ministry wants to learn from the organisation of state apparatus and administrative system in Vietnam.
He asked for further help from the Vietnamese Government and Ministry of Home Affairs, noting that their assistance so far has contributed significantly to effective performance of his agency in the past time.
