Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Vietnamese government is striving to improve business climate and offer all possible support to firms during meetings with Chinese banking and corporate executives in Beijing on September 13.

In a reception for President of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Yi Huiman, the PM made it clear that Vietnam welcomes prestigious banks with high liquidity operating in Vietnam, including the ICBC. 

In such spirit, he asked the ICBC to work with the State Bank of Vietnam to devise effective and practical ways of cooperation. 

Yi, for his part, spoke highly of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, especially in the field of finance-banking. 

As one of the five Chinese banks operating in Vietnam, the ICBC is funding a number of key socio-economic projects in Vietnam and 80 percent of its staff is Vietnamese, he said. 

He affirmed that the ICBC wants to contribute more to Vietnam’s industrialisation, modernisation and infrastructure upgrade. 

Meeting President of the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) Zhou Mubing, the Government leader lauded the ABC for its trans-border payment service over the past years, contributing to boosting Vietnam-China economic and trade ties. 

He told his host that the State Bank of Vietnam will consider ABC’s proposal to open a branch in the country. 

Zhou described Vietnam as China’s largest trade partner in the ASEAN, adding that the ABC has joined a number of projects to elevate bilateral economic and trade ties. 

He wished that the Vietnamese government would facilitate ABC’s credit activities in Vietnam in the near future. 

During a meeting with Asia Director of Zhongxing Corporation Fan Hu and Vice President of Huawei Corporation Wanghui, the PM asked the two leading Chinese telecommunications firms to forge closer ties with Vietnamese partners. 

He said he supports their proposal to join hands with Vietnamese localities to build smart cities and transport systems in Vietnam. 

The executives expressed their wish for continued support from the PM, ministries and local authorities to do business with Vietnamese partners in the mutually-beneficial spirit, for the sake of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

PM hosts Chinese friendship activitist in Beijing

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received delegates from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association in Beijing on September 13 during his official visit to China.

He reiterated the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State to preserve and promote the traditional friendship and solidarity with China, describing the bilateral special amity as valuable asset for the two countries’ people as well as for regional and global peace and prosperity.

He said he hopes the Vietnamese and Chinese Parties, States, and people will uphold the long-standing and close-knit relations for mutual cooperation and development in the context of complicated changes in the world and regional political and security situation.

The two sides need to actively work together to address disputes related to the East Sea via peaceful means and in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), with respect for diplomatic and legal procedures, the PM said.

He proposed the CPAFFC enhance coordination with Vietnamese friendship organisations to push the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China ahead, while continuously cementing and developing their time-honoured friendship.

President of the CPAFFC Li Xiaolin highlighted the significance of the Vietnam-China traditional friendship, which has been fostered by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of the two countries.

The association will host more activities to connect the two cultures and create people-to-people forums, she confirmed.

Vietnam appreciates Chinese former experts’ help:PM

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met on September 13with families of former Chinese experts who lent Vietnam a hand during theresistance wars in the past.

The PM, who is on an official visit to China, saidhe is touched by meeting the former experts and their relatives who havegreatly contributed to the two countries’ friendship, solidarity andcooperation.

He described the ex-specialists and theirrelatives’ contribution and sentiment to his country as a vivid demonstrationof the time-honoured and strong friendship between Vietnam and China.

The Party and State of Vietnam always keep in mindtheir devotion to the nations’ amity and solidarity, he said, voicing his hopethat their sincere sentiment will be upheld and developed by youngergenerations, thereby intensifying bilateral relations.

On behalf of the Chinese side, ex-specialist ZhangDewei, who used to be a Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, recalled the time he andhis Vietnamese comrades weathered difficulties during the resistance warsagainst invaders. He said he considers Vietnam as his second homeland.

Talking about the life and career of Vietnam’s latePresident Ho Chi Minh, he noted that the Vietnam-China friendship has beennurtured by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and following leaders of thecountries. It is a precious asset shared by the two Parties, States andpeoples, and it needs to be treasured and promoted by future generations.

At the meeting, representatives of former experts’families also recollected the two peoples’ close connections throughout historyand promised they will continue educating their descendants about the pricelessamity between the Chinese and Vietnamese Parties, States and peoples.
