Hung said that during his stay in the European nation, PM Phuc will hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel, meet with President Frank-Welter Steinmeier and leaders of several States of Germany and attend a business forum in Berlin.

He will also participate in the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Hung added.

According to the diplomat, after establishing strategic partnership in 2011, the two countries’ ties have developed rapidly. Germany has become Vietnam’s leading partner in the European Union, especially in trade, with two-way trade now about 10 billion USD.

In recent years, more and more German businesses and localities have eyed investing in Vietnam, he said, adding that potential for bilateral cooperation remains huge.

Germany is a leading country in the industrial revolution, especially in producing renewable energies, and has experience in training human resources, developing tourism and protecting the environment, which Vietnam can learn from, Hung said.

Meanwhile, Germany appreciates Vietnam’s golden population structure and considers the country a potential tourism market, he added.

The ambassador affirmed that the two economies can support each other, as Germany has demand for human resources and Vietnam needs help to develop technology.

Regarding the G20 Summit, Ambassador Hung said that it will focus on three main issues: the self-reliance of the world economy and member states’ economies, sustainable development and measures to deal with development-related problems.

As the host of the APEC Summit 2017, coordination between Vietnam and Germany in seeking ways to encourage member states to solve theses issues will help the two summits be successful, thus contributing to global development.

The attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the high-ranking Government delegation at the summit will increase Vietnam’s prestige on the international stage, he added.
