At the 2024 Defense Expo, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s dedication to peace and its focus on strengthening defense capabilities to address regional and global challenges.
Vietnam opened its 2024 International Defense Exhibition on December 19 at Gia Lam Airport, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang presiding over the event.
The expo celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People’s National Defense Day.
In his opening speech, PM Chinh emphasized Vietnam’s dedication to peace, independence, and international cooperation.
“Vietnam seeks to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military capable of early and effective self-defense to protect the nation from afar,” he said.
PM Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s adherence to its "4 no’s" defense policy:
No military alliances.
No aligning with one country against another.
No foreign military bases or use of its territory against others.
No use or threat of force in international relations.
He underscored Vietnam’s approach to strengthening defense ties, addressing global security challenges, and fostering peace and cooperation in accordance with international law.
Vietnam is focusing on developing a self-reliant defense industry with dual-use technologies, integrating advanced scientific innovations to enhance military capabilities while contributing to the economy.
PM Chinh and other officials toured the exhibition, which features over 240 defense companies from 49 countries. Products range from cutting-edge weaponry to advanced defense systems, showcasing Vietnam’s role as a hub for global defense collaboration.
