Pokemon Go developers on August 6 announced on Facebook and Twitter that the game can be downloaded in 15 more countries, including Vietnam.

This means that Android and iOS users in Vietnam now can download Pokemon Go directly from the official online app store, and there is no need to download APK files to activate the game anymore.

This is good news for Vietnamese gamers, though they can begin playing Pokemon since early July. Many gamers said they waited until August 6 to play the official version because of the concern about the security of APK file.

However, the Pokemon community in Vietnam has been divided because of the complaint about ‘unfair play’.

On gamers’ forums, members share tools which help gamers catch Pokemons and there is no need to move as the real game requests. There are tools which can even be used to falsely catch Pokemons from other countries.

A gamer complained that those who cheat in playing can obtain strong Pokemons and therefore, can occupy gym rooms in Vietnam. This means that normal players cannot have the opportunities to receive benefits and gifts from the places.

Vietnamese gamers are excited as Pokemon Go became officially available in Vietnam on August 6. However, they have voiced complaints about the unfair play because of the use of unlicensed software.
“As they play with cheating tools, we cannot compete with them. There is no more competitiveness and joy in playing the game,” he said.

Nguyen Vu, the administrator of Pokemon Go Long Xuyen Facebook fanpage, commented that it was easy to recognize the gamers who use fake software, because they have very high skill in Pokemon.

“The server has just opened for several days for Vietnam. It is impossible to catch Pokemons with such high CP indexes,” he said.

There are two opinions about fake software. The first one agrees on using unlicensed software to hack the game to obtain some advantages. Those who advocate this opinion said this was the situation in many countries, not only in Vietnam. They believe that using tricks are necessary because this helps prevent foreign gamers from occupying Vietnamese gyms.

Nguyen Hong Phuc, the administrator of Pokemon Go HCM City, confirmed that some gyms in Vietnam have been occupied by foreign gamers, especially from China.

The other gamers oppose the idea of using tricks, saying that this is a kind of cheating.

The Vietnamese Pokemon gamers’ community has been trying to draw a map of Pokestops and Gyms. The large cities of Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City are the localities which have high density of Pokemons.

In related news, Colonel Le The Mau released a warning in Cong An Nhan Dan newspaper, the official organ of the Ministry of Public Security, that Pokemon Go could be spyware.
