On the morning of June 25, the 17th Hanoi Party Committee Executive Committee held its 18th meeting to discuss the organization of Party Congresses at all levels, in preparation for the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee, as well as socio-economic and personnel matters.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong announced the Politburo's decision to remove Mr. Dinh Tien Dung from his positions as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, member of the Hanoi Party Committee Executive Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation, and other related roles, allowing him to retire as per his request.
The Politburo assigned Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen to lead the Hanoi Party Committee until the Secretary position is filled according to regulations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, 53, hailing from Chuong My district, Hanoi, is a deputy of the 12th National Assembly, an alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee, and a deputy of the 14th and 15th Hanoi People's Councils for the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 terms, respectively.
In October 2020, she was elected as Deputy Secretary of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Previously, on June 19, the Politburo agreed to let Mr. Dinh Tien Dung step down from his roles in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, and as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, as well as Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi. The Party Central Committee was also informed to process his resignation from these positions according to Party regulations and state laws.
Two days later, the Party Central Committee accepted Mr. Dinh Tien Dung's resignation from his position as a Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
Following Mr. Dung's resignation, the Hanoi Party Committee has four Deputy Secretaries: Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, and Mr. Tran Sy Thanh.
