Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, made the remarks while receiving Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Rajendra Singh in Hanoi on April 25.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and the General Staff always support and stand ready to create favourable conditions for the forces to step up their affiliation, he said.

Vietnam always keeps in mind and highly values good sentiments and support of the Indian army and people to the country during its past struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as the present cause of national construction, and socio-economic development.

For his part, Rajendra Singh highlighted the fruitful traditional friendship between Vietnam and India and briefed his host on collaboration between coast guards of the two countries, which, he said, has experienced progress, especially since they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in 2015. - VNA
