Vietnamese professionals can look forward to more job opportunities across various industries due to favorable market conditions in 2017, according to the latest annual Global Salary Survey from specialist professional recruitment firm Robert Walters.
Employers will also be focusing on hiring returning Vietnamese talent with overseas work experience, commercial mindsets, and familiarity with the local working culture.
Market insights from the recent annual Global Salary Survey suggest that qualified candidates moving jobs in 2017 can expect average salary increments of 10-25 per cent.
“Vietnam’s reputation as an emerging economy has attracted overseas companies and encouraged the development of startup companies in the country,” Gerrit Bouckaert, Country Manager of Robert Walters Thailand & Vietnam, said.
“This will drive recruitment activity and professionals will have access to a wider pool of job opportunities. Employers should consider retaining high performers by offering clear career development paths and conduct annual reviews of remuneration and employee benefit packages.”
The report highlights other key factors for 2017. In the accounting and finance field, startups will be looking to hire candidates with relevant industry experience, while established businesses undergoing transformation will value entrepreneurial professionals with the skills to lead new projects.
Growth in electronics manufacturing and building and construction will drive demand for mid-to senior-level engineers in the semiconductor, high-tech electronics, and factory automation sectors, as well as the automotive and chemical industries.
As Vietnam is a growing IT hub, this will drive recruitment for specialists in cloud computing, big data, business intelligence, and information security.
There will be a trend of more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) transforming their traditional HR set-ups to the business partnering model, driving demand for culture change HR and HR business partner professionals.
The report stated that due to growth in the animal feed additives industry, senior marketing leaders with sound English-language skills will be required to promote business.
