Twenty-six birds, or 13 pairs of rooster and hen, are entered in the contest

They are first judged by weight; each rooster must weigh at least 4.5 kilograms and hen a minimum of 3.5 kilograms 

Then they are evaluated by other criteria such as head, crest, colour, tail, feet and feathers
