Kien Giang province annually organizes the Khmer Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival to honor, promote and spread the cultural values of the Khmer people.

Khmer people have unique traditional art forms that play an important role in the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

The province annually organizes many activities to promote conservation of traditional art forms of the Khmer people and to meet the people's needs for cultural and artistic enjoyment. The most important event is the annual Khmer Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival.

The province also maintains the Khmer radio and television programs in Khmer ethnic areas. The cultural and artistic movements among Khmer people are also promoted strongly through festivals, competitions, and cultural and artistic exchanges on holidays and New Year.

To preserve and develop traditional Khmer dance art, the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province has assigned the Provincial Cultural Center to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Dance School to organize a Khmer traditional dance training class for employees of relevant organizations and units, such as the Divisions of Culture and Information, the Centers for Culture, Sports and Broadcasting of districts and cities in Kien Giang.

The Khmer traditional dance training class is part of the "Project to preserve and promote the value of Khmer traditional arts in Kien Giang province in the period 2021 - 2025" approved by the People's Committee of Kien Giang province in 2022.

The project aims to promote the cultural and spiritual life of Khmer people; Propose and synchronously implement solutions to improve the effectiveness of preserving and promoting the value of traditional Khmer art in the province; Encourage the restoration of typical Khmer traditional art forms.

It also focuses on teaching, training activities to have a team of Khmer artisans, musicians and authors; organizing performance and art exchange activities suitable to local practical conditions; strengthening resources for preserving and promoting the value of traditional Khmer ethnic art in the province, through increasing investment capital from the State budget and calling for investment from other resources.

Previously, in order to preserve and honor the unique cultural identity of the Khmer people, in November 2022, the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports also organized a Khmer Traditional Arts Festival in Go Quao district, attracting over 130 artists and artisans from 9 Khmer traditional art troupes in the districts of Go Quao, Giong Rieng, Chau Thanh, An Bien, U Minh Thuong, Kien Luong, Hon Dat, and Giang Thanh, who performed folk music, traditional costume and performing arts.
