President Tran Dai Quang speaks at a working session with ABAC Vietnam leaders in Hanoi on September 27

At a working session with ABAC Vietnam leaders in Hanoi on September 27, the President called for joint efforts to attract the participation of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and representatives of international organisations, leading economic groups, businesses and localities nationwide in the CEO Summit 2017 and the APEC Business Summit during the week.

Hosting APEC Year 2017 is the focus of Vietnam’s external activities, he said, stressing the need to intensify communication work in order to raise public awareness of the event, contributing to promoting the land and people of Vietnam to international friends.

The President applauded the close coordination between ABAC Vietnam, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the APEC National Secretariat 2017 and relevant ministries, agencies and localities over the past time.

He agreed with recommendations of the APEC business community, especially those regarding the liberalisation and facilitation of trade, investment and services, connectivity, inclusive, sustainable and innovative growth, and the development of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises as well as those run by women.

The leader also lauded recommendations to improve the quality of human resources, promote the digital economy and make the best use of opportunities generated by the fourth industrial revolution.

On behalf of leaders of other APEC economies, President Tran Dai Quang received ABAC’s report and 20 recommendations to be submitted to the APEC leaders.
