During their meeting on May 23 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented US President Barack Obama a gift called "Message of thousand years".

The gift was an enameled ceramic head of a dragon placed on a timber stand.

The gift was designed at the consultancy of historian Duong Trung Quoc.

This exclusive gift weighs 6 kg (not including the natural wood stand), is 36 cm high, and is placed in two layers of boxes with bilingual introduction in Vietnamese and English.

The gift was made in three months, including two months for design and one month to make the mould and burn the statue. "We failed twice because we could not make the true color of glaze," the gift maker said.

He said the gift is the symbol of the culture of Vietnam, which contains messages with a rich history.

In Vietnam, the dragon a symbol of nobility, vitality and eternal strength of universe. Throughout the country’s history, the image of dragon has always been tied to the dynasties from Ngo, Ly, Tran, early Le, Mac, late Le and Nguyen.

"The dragon of the Ly Dynasty not only has political meaning - symbolizing power - but also has a unique feature that is different from any other dragons," he said.

In 2002, the Archaeology Institute organized archaeological excavations at the site proposed for the construction of the National Assembly building.

They revealed a complex of monuments with royal items and pottery items of the Ly Dynasty.

This proves that the art of the Ly Dynasty had reached its peak.

The excavated objects clearly demonstrated the prosperity of the Ly dynasty as the most brilliant dynasty in Vietnam.
