On the afternoon of the 29th day of the final lunar month, in Hanoi, the Prime Minister visited and offered Tet greetings while inspecting duty arrangements to ensure traffic order, safety and security by officers of the Traffic Police Department and the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security.

He went to encourage officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department and inspected traffic safety operations at the Nguyen Van Cu - Ngoc Thuy intersection in Hanoi.

He shared words of encouragement with police officers on duty to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow while families across the country were gathering to welcome the Lunar New Year 2026.

Commending the traffic police force for proactively implementing solutions to maintain traffic order and safety in service of spring celebrations and the Tet holiday, the Prime Minister praised the results achieved. In 2025, traffic accidents nationwide declined across all three criteria: number of cases, fatalities and injuries.

With a population now nearing 102 million, a growing number of vehicles, an expanding expressway network and increasingly dynamic and complex traffic activities, the demand for smooth and safe transportation is higher than ever, as are public expectations for convenience and efficiency.

The Prime Minister urged the traffic police to take the lead in green transition and digital transformation in the transport sector, promoting digitalization and building comprehensive databases for better traffic management. These efforts, he noted, would reduce the burden on officers, especially in harsh weather, enhance objectivity and transparency, curb misconduct and ensure timely and decisive handling of violations.

He also cited moving and inspiring images of traffic police officers protecting citizens during natural disasters and pandemics, escorting emergency patients, assisting women in labor and helping lost individuals return home - gestures that have resonated deeply within the community.

The Prime Minister called on the force to continue setting an example in serving the people and doing so to the best of their ability.

He emphasized that as vehicles become increasingly modern, traffic management equipment must also be upgraded accordingly, with strengthened infrastructure and the swift completion of relevant projects.

On this occasion, through the VNeTraffic app with more than 5 million users, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang conveyed New Year wishes for peace, health and safe participation in traffic to all road users.

Policies needed to attract cybersecurity talent

At the National Cybersecurity Center, the Prime Minister visited, offered Tet greetings and inspected duty arrangements of officers from the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention.

He commended the force’s significant achievements in 2025, including its advisory role in successfully organizing the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, hosted by Vietnam.

The Prime Minister requested that the department effectively carry out three key functions: maintaining a firm grasp of the situation and advising Party and State leaders on safeguarding national security and sovereignty in cyberspace; strengthening state management; and serving as a frontline combat force in cyberspace to prevent cybercrime and counter cyberattacks.

To fulfill these responsibilities, he underscored several priorities, including institutional improvement and the urgent development of a decree outlining mechanisms and policies to attract talent in cybersecurity. He also called for modernization of strategic infrastructure and the broader cybersecurity ecosystem.

In addition, he stressed the need to master core technologies, apply smart governance and management, and enhance the quality of human resources, harnessing Vietnamese intellect in this field with appropriate mechanisms and policies for personnel.
