Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with a delegation of US parliamentarians led by Ted Yoho, Chairman of the Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee at the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs, in Hanoi on October 16.

The host leader said the Government and people of Vietnam appreciate the support that the US Congress, including many members of the House of Representatives, has given to the US’s policy towards the Asian-Pacific region and the country’s development of the comprehensive partnership with Vietnam in all fields, especially in promoting the implementation of US businesses’ investment projects in Vietnam.
He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to relations with the US and wants to continue reinforcing the comprehensive partnership in a result-oriented manner on the basis of respecting each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regime, for the sake of the countries’ people as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia-Pacific and the world.
PM Phuc lauded the increasingly positive and substantive development of Vietnam-US relations in bilateral, regional and global aspects.
He also valued growing ties between the two countries’ parliaments, particularly the meetings and exchanges of views between their lawmakers.
Vietnam welcomes more US parliamentarians to come to learn about its history, culture, country and people as well as to seek measures to foster bilateral linkages.
For his part, Ted Yoho said he is happy to meet PM Phuc again after his phone talks with the Vietnamese leader last May.
He said as Chairman of the Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee at the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs, he will work harder to enhance cultural and trade cooperation and legislative experience sharing, thus helping the flourishing comprehensive partnership to continue obtaining new achievements in all spheres.
NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty receives US Congressman
National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty has stated that Vietnam wants to further deepen comprehensive partnership with the US on bilateral, regional and global aspects, on the basis of respect to each other’s political regime and development roadmap.
During a reception in Hanoi on October 16 for Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific Ted Yoho, Ty said ties between Vietnam and the US have developed across the fields of politics, economy, trade, science-technology, culture, education, national defence-security since 2013.
He suggested that the US Congress and government continue boosting two-way trade, including facilitating the export of Vietnamese catfish to the US market.
Vietnam hopes that the US would continue assisting the country in improving the capacity of its coast guards as well as search and rescue efforts, and promoting national defence industry, with priority given to shipbuilding, maritime supervision, training of officers, English language and military medicine, he said.
Yoho, for his part, hailed Vietnam as a significant trade partner of the US,
He expressed his belief that bilateral relationship will further grow intensively and extensively, and suggested that both sides need to deal with existing issues to look towards a brighter future of later generations.
