At noon on June 20, the official welcoming ceremony for the Russian President's state visit to Vietnam was held with great solemnity. President To Lam and President Putin inspected the honor guard to the sound of national anthems and majestic military music, with 21 cannon shots fired from the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

On the afternoon of June 20, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Russian President Putin. The Prime Minister expressed his hope for close coordination between the two sides to create new momentum for traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, resolving difficulties and promoting bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to maximize the advantages of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement and urged Russia to remove trade barriers to facilitate trade, particularly the export of Vietnamese consumer goods and agricultural products.
He also requested an increase in Vietnam's rice export quota and support for Russian agricultural exports to the Vietnamese market.

The meeting at the Party Central Committee Headquarters in the afternoon extended the list of direct meetings between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the afternoon, the Russian President visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and laid a wreath in memory of the heroic martyrs at the monument on Bac Son Street.

Later in the afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with President Vladimir Putin.
At the meeting, the Chairman outlined several policies to promote the Vietnam-Russia relationship, expecting the legislative bodies of both countries to contribute positively to bilateral relations. He expressed hope that President Putin would continue to support and promote these relationships.
