Michele Fersini, who represents the Vietnamese football star at Paul FC, said Quang Hai met with Pau FC president Bernard Laporte Fray on June 1 and they reached an agreement two days later.
“We have reached an agreement,” confirmed Fray on La Rép des Pyrénées newspaper on June 4.
Without an offer from other clubs in Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea or Thailand, the midfielder has chosen to return to Vietnam.
He has reached a preliminary agreement with a V-League football club, and he was said to ink the contract when he returns home to join his teammates of the national Vietnamese team on June 5.
Quang Hai, 27, and his Ha Noi FC have won V-League four times, National Cups twice and National Super Cup three times.
For the national team, he won the gold medal at SEA Games 2019 and AFF Cup 2018, and reached the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup with his teammates.
In June 2022, Quang Hai decided to join France's Pau FC under a two-year contract. Despite his efforts, he has failed to meet the club’s expectations.
