The Vietnamese national team secured a spot in the semifinals of the ASEAN Cup 2024 after defeating Indonesia 1-0 in their third match in Group B, held at Viet Tri Stadium. Vietnam had rested during Round 2 under coach Kim Sang Sik.
Quang Hai scored the only goal of the match, breaking a three-game losing streak and ending Vietnam’s scoring drought against Indonesia.
In Vietnam’s opening 4-1 victory against Laos, Quang Hai shone as a substitute, delivering two assists.
So far, Quang Hai has recorded two assists in the tournament, second only to Suphanat Mueanta of Thailand, who has three.
Thanks to his decisive goal against Indonesia, Quang Hai was voted Player of the Round for Round 3 on the tournament’s official website, aseanutdfc.com, garnering 40.63% of the votes.

Quang Hai’s closest competitor in the poll was Shawal Anuar, who scored twice in Singapore’s 3-0 win over Timor-Leste, earning 28.1% of the votes. Suphanat Mueanta followed with 25%, and Phetdavanh Somsanid of Laos received 6.25%.
Quang Hai also won the Best Goal of Round 3 with an overwhelming 59.26% of the votes.
Sandro Reyes of the Philippines, whose equalizer against Laos was voted the second-best goal, received 18.52% of the votes. Shawal Anuar’s first goal against Timor-Leste ranked third with 14.81%. Meanwhile, Patrik Gustavsson’s match-winner for Thailand in their 1-0 victory over Malaysia came in fourth with 7.41%.
