Quang Nam Province reached new tourism heights in 2024, welcoming over 8 million visitors and earning more than 30,820 billion VND ($1.3 billion) in revenue.
On December 20, the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced the province’s tourism achievements for 2024, highlighting the growth in visitor numbers and revenue.
A historic year for tourism
Quang Nam recorded over 8 million visitors, an increase of 14% compared to 2023 and exceeding its 2024 target by 6%.
This total included 5.5 million international visitors and over 2.5 million domestic tourists.
The province’s tourism revenue was impressive, with 9,200 billion VND ($394 million) generated from accommodation and sightseeing and 21,620 billion VND ($927 million) in social income.
Key international markets for Quang Nam included South Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Germany, Malaysia, and China.
Recognitions and achievements
Quang Nam received numerous international awards and accolades in 2024.
The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism was honored as the "Asia's Leading Local Tourism Management Agency" at the World Travel Awards. The province also won the title of "Most Attractive and Impressive Domestic Destination of 2024," as recognized by Travellive magazine.
Hoi An, a major tourist hub, celebrated its fifth consecutive year as "Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination." Additionally, it was named one of the top seven trending destinations globally by Tripadvisor in 2024.
Unique attractions
The Tra Que Vegetable Village in Hoi An was recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization as one of the "Best Tourism Villages" in 2024, making it the only Vietnamese destination to receive this honor.
International tourists visiting Tra Que have expressed excitement over its eco-friendly farming practices and cultural significance.
Local tourism enterprises also garnered multiple international awards, underscoring Quang Nam’s status as a premier travel destination.
Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, expressed optimism about the province’s tourism recovery and growth following the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This year’s achievements lay a strong foundation for Quang Nam to continue attracting even more domestic and international visitors in the future,” he stated.
