In the first six months of the year, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of Quang Ninh is estimated to reach 11.11 percent, which is 0.04 percentage points higher than the scenario set forth in the May 12, 2026 decision of the Provincial People's Committee.
The agriculture, forestry, and fishery sector increased by 4.47 percent, which is 0.49 percentage points lower than the scenario; the industry and construction sector increased by 11 percent, or 0.84 percentage points higher, while the industrial sector alone increased by 10.83 percent, or 1.15 percentage points higher; the service sector increased by 14.27 percent, or 0.02 percentage points higher; product tax minus product subsidy increased by 4.85 percent, or 2.86 percentage points lower than the 6-month scenario (7.72 percent).
High-tech manufacturing
Previously, Quang Ninh’s economy relied heavily on mineral exploitation, but there has been a reorientation with the emergence of high-tech processing and manufacturing enterprises such as electronics and precision mechanics.
As a high-tech industrial production development zone, Amata City Ha Long (Song Khoai) Industrial Park has become a spearhead of Quang Ninh’s coastal economy, attracting a total FDI investment capital of over $3 billion.
A representative of Amata City Ha Long Industrial Park stated that the industrial park is located within an economic zone enjoying preferential policies in accordance with current regulations. The project has an advantage in infrastructure connectivity as it is close to expressways, Hai Phong Port, and Cat Bi Airport, contributing to convenient logistics operations.
In addition, the location between Quang Ninh and Hai Phong creates favorable conditions for accessing labor sources.
The industrial park has attracted 25 investors, creating 6,000 jobs.
In the first six months, the industrial park welcomed two new investors with a total investment level of $19 million.
One is the project of Industry Automobile Parts Mingfang Vietnam covering a total area of 1.7 hectares with investment capital of $15 million, specializing in manufacturing spare parts and auxiliary components for automobiles and motorized vehicles.
Mutek Technology Vietnam has invested a total of $4 million to deploy a 1-hectare factory specializing in manufacturing specialized machinery and equipment serving the electronic semiconductor industry.
Previously, on June 30, at the conference announcing the strategic master plans of Quang Ninh Province, the province handed over investment approval decisions and investment registration certificates to 18 projects with a total investment capital of nearly VND45,000 billion.
The projects focus on developing industrial park infrastructure, urban areas, logistics, energy, processing industries, tourism, high-tech agriculture, and seaport infrastructure, contributing to creating more room and new growth momentum for the province.
Chair of Quang Ninh province Bui Van Khang committed to urgently concretizing the master plans into key programs, plans, and projects; accelerating digitalization and publicizing master plans; continuing to improve the investment environment; and building breakthrough mechanisms and policies to strongly mobilize social resources.
Accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital
With the determination to promote growth, Quang Ninh is focusing on accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital, considering this an important solution to create development momentum.
As of June 30, the entire province had disbursed VND10,138 billion, or 96 percent of the disbursement target for the first six months of 2026 (VND10,561 billion). In particular, the disbursement of the 2026 public investment plan reached VND9,187 billion, achieving 47 percent of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister at the beginning of the year, which is higher than the same period last year (31.6 percent) and higher than the national average (26 percent).
Quang Ninh is executing many key works such as the Van Ninh general port project (phase 1) and the general port project at Con Ong - Hon Net.
The People's Council of Quang Ninh Province has passed a Resolution on supplementing growth targets for the 2026-2030 period and the year 2026. The Resolution supplements growth objectives for each economic sector and key indicators to strive for the GRDP target of over 13 percent.
