Located in Huong Phung commune, Quang Tri, Pa Thien and Voi Mep mountains sit within a rich primary forest ecosystem with majestic scenery. This area promises to become a magnet for adventure travelers and nature enthusiasts seeking wilderness experiences.

Pa Thien rises to 1,625 meters above sea level. Its name, translated as “the mountain of heaven,” reflects its towering height that seems to touch the sky.
Voi Mep, also known as Ta Linh Son, is Quang Tri’s highest peak at 1,707 meters. The name “Voi Mep” (Gentle Elephant) derives from the mountain's silhouette, which resembles a giant elephant resting in the heart of the jungle.

Starting from the Rao - Pin stream source, the trail to Pa Thien stretches approximately 8 kilometers through thick forest paths strewn with decaying leaves, icy creeks, and steep inclines. Upon reaching the summit, visitors are welcomed by sweeping views and clouds drifting lazily across the sky.

The summit of Pa Thien is home to dwarf forests, including rare species from the tea and rhododendron families. Nestled among moss-covered rocks are ancient tea trees of unknown age, quietly thriving in the untouched landscape.

From Pa Thien, another 2-kilometer trek leads to the Voi Mep summit - the true emotional climax of the journey. At this height, visitors can look down upon a vast ocean of swirling clouds cascading into deep valleys like flowing waves.

Shrouded in mist throughout the year, Voi Mep’s peak offers a rare and unforgettable cloud-hunting experience.

After completing necessary procedures, the proposed pilot tourism project for this destination has now been finalized.

The project introduces two ecotourism trekking programs: a 2-day, 1-night tour covering 6.5 kilometers (from the forest gate to the new rocky area, Pa Thien summit, and Voi Mep), and a 3-day, 2-night tour spanning 8.8 kilometers (from the forest gate to Voi Mep summit).

Both tours depart from Huong Phung commune and traverse three sub-zones within the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve in northwestern Huong Hoa district. Each tour is limited to no more than 25 participants, with a maximum of two groups per day, ensuring safety and a quality experience.

The tourism operator has signed a cooperation agreement with a support team to implement the pilot program. Around 20 Van Kieu youth will assist and guide trekking groups during their expedition to Voi Mep.
This initiative not only creates livelihoods for the Van Kieu community but also helps promote the distinctive cultural identity of Quang Tri’s southwestern highlands.
