Although northern Vietnam will continue to receive cold air, meteorologists say the region will experience a relatively rare spell of pleasant spring weather from now until the end of the week, without the drizzle and damp conditions that typically dominate this season.

According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center, cold air will continue strengthening toward central Vietnam over the next one to two days and gradually spread toward the southern region. Additional cold surges are expected around March 6 and March 9-10.
However, experts say the cold air mass expected on March 6 will be relatively weak, meaning weather conditions in northern Vietnam and the north-central region will see little change.
From now through Sunday, March 8, northern Vietnam is forecast to remain fairly stable, with slightly chilly mornings and sunny, comfortable afternoons. The likelihood of persistent humidity and damp conditions is expected to remain low.
The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting said that from the night of March 4 to March 7, the northern and north-central regions will experience scattered light rain in some areas, along with early morning mist and light fog.
From around March 8 to March 10, as cold air strengthens again, these areas may see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with chilly conditions during the night and early morning across northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province.
For Hanoi specifically, the Northern Regional Hydrometeorological Center forecasts that weakening cold air will bring cloudy skies with light rain in some places and light fog during the night of March 4 and the morning of March 5. Temperatures will remain cold with lows around 16-18 degrees Celsius.
By midday and afternoon on March 5, cloud cover will decrease and sunshine will appear, pushing the daytime high to around 23-25 degrees Celsius.
Another surge of cold air is expected around the night of March 5 and during March 6. However, because the system is relatively weak, Hanoi will only see light rain in some areas, with chilly conditions mainly during the night and early morning. Rain will decrease later in the day and temperatures will gradually rise.
From March 7 to March 8, Hanoi is forecast to remain dry, with chilly mornings followed by warm sunshine during the afternoon.
Meanwhile, the central region from central central Vietnam to March 14 may see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with lighter rainfall expected around March 8-9.
In south-central Vietnam, the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam, daytime sunshine will continue while isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in the late afternoon and evening. In southern Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon of March 5-6.
During thunderstorms, meteorologists warn that whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind may occur.
