Set to launch in China on January 29, the Turbo 5 lineup will include two models: the Turbo 5 Pro and the Turbo 5 Max. While specs for the Pro model remain under wraps, the Max version is already making waves thanks to its extreme battery and performance combination.

The 9,000mAh battery not only provides ultra-long usage but also introduces new utility scenarios. Xiaomi confirmed that the device supports reverse charging at up to 27W via its in-house Surge P3 chip, enabling it to function like a power bank. This means the Turbo 5 Max can recharge other devices - including wireless earbuds, smartwatches, or even other smartphones - at a respectable speed.

To address concerns about charging time, the Turbo 5 Max supports up to 100W wired fast charging, which significantly reduces the time required to fill such a large battery. This balance between size and speed positions the device as a power-user favorite.

Powering the Turbo 5 Max is MediaTek’s brand-new Dimensity 9500s processor - a high-efficiency chip tailored for upper-mid-range phones. It offers solid performance for gaming and video streaming while remaining energy efficient, helping maximize the battery’s endurance.

Xiaomi is positioning this phone squarely at users who want extended usage without compromising speed, particularly gamers, binge-watchers, and those needing all-day performance on a budget.

In terms of design, the Turbo 5 Max will be available in two color options: Ocean Breeze Blue and Sunrise Orange. The orange variant stands out especially, evoking comparisons to the vibrant finish seen on the iPhone 17 Pro.

This bold, youthful aesthetic complements the phone’s rugged internals, offering consumers a device that is both practical and stylish.

Even with its enormous battery, Xiaomi claims that the Turbo 5 Max could last longer than some 10,000mAh phones on the market, thanks to optimization between hardware and software. While this claim remains to be tested in real-world use, it signals strong confidence in the new device.

There’s no official word yet on global availability. However, if Xiaomi decides to release it outside of China - paired with its aggressive pricing strategy - the Turbo 5 Max could quickly become one of the most sought-after phones for battery-focused users worldwide.
