The UN Day of Vesak 2019 with the theme "Buddhist approach to global leadership and shared responsibility for sustainable society" held on May 12-14, 2019 at Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam Province, took place successful.

Vesak is a cultural and religious festival to honor, praise and promote the moral values, the good and harmonious spirit of the Buddha.

 

 National Assembly (NA) deputies scrutinised the draft laws on property auction and belief and religion on October 24 as the 14th NA’s second session is taking place in Hanoi. 

 NA deputies yesterday questioned a regulation in the draft Law on Belief and Religion which states the state will officially recognise a religious institution only when it has run for at least 10 years, saying it is "scientifically baseless".

 The National Assembly’s Standing Committee discussed the draft Law on Belief and Religion during its 40th meeting on August 14.

 In recent years, Viet Nam has made improvements in ensuring religious freedom, UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion and beliefs Heiner Bielefeldt said at a press conference yesterday in the capital.
