Recently, in Hanoi, the Department of External Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications organized a conference to provide information to the press on human rights and external information of Vietnam in October 2019.

At the conference, representatives of the Office of the Steering Committee on Human Rights; Office of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Department of Homeland Security reported the human rights situation in October, proposed some propaganda contents on the press on achievements in ensuring religious freedom in Vietnam...

In conclusion of the Conference, Mr. Doan Cong Huynh, Director of the External Information Department emphasized that in the coming time, it is necessary to keep organizing monthly conferences to provide information to the press on human rights work and external relations. He hoped that the press agencies and related ministries and sectors would coordinate closely to improve the quality of human rights propaganda in Vietnam, contributing to guide social public opinion.

According to the conference, in each revolutionary period, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese State have had appropriate religious policies to gather people who are followers of all religions in Vietnam to build and develop the country. The highlight of these policies is respecting and guaranteeing the right to freedom of belief and religion, and always recognizing and placing the role of religion in appropriate places along a roadmap from: Recognizing the moral and cultural values of religions to preserving and promoting the moral and cultural values of religions and then recognizing religion as a resource in the process of national development.

The promulgation of the Law on Beliefs and Religions affirms that Vietnam actively participates in international integration, completes its law on beliefs and religions, concretizing Vietnam's consistent guidelines on freedom of belief and religion. It has important implications both internally and externally, in line with the policy of institutional reform, simplifying the current administrative procedures in Vietnam, ensuring the interests of the nation, ethnic groups and religious organizations.

At the same time, the promulgation of the Law on Beliefs and Religions affirms that Vietnam is always an active and responsible member in ensuring human rights, including freedom of belief and religion and it is a proof against the misrepresentation of some forces, which distorted and accused Vietnam of violating democracy, human rights and religion.

Some achievements in religious work include: The formation and development of religious organizations, the variety of religious activities, religious external relations activities helping national organizations better understanding of a Vietnam that always guarantees freedom of belief and religion.

Te Director of the External Relations Department, Doan Cong Huynh, stressed that in the coming time, the press agencies should continue to propagate the Party's views, policies, State policies and laws on beliefs and religion, the good values of religion; promoting information affirming Vietnam’s policy to guarantee the freedom of belief and religion of the people, the country’s consistent policy of respecting and creating favorable conditions for all people to exercise their freedom of religions and beliefs; attaching importance to the policy of solidarity and harmony among religions, ensuring equality and non-discrimination for religious and belief reasons.

The press agencies should focus on specifying plots and the activities of the hostile forces to take advantage of the religion in order to destroy the great national unity bloc and the national renewal career led by the Party; publish many articles to help religious followers and dignitaries clearly see the responsibilities of citizens, actively fight against wrongdoings and legal violations.
