Dang Thanh Tam - the richest stock millionaire in the 2007 list

FPT Group, the largest Vietnamese information technology group, was one of the first businesses which listed shares on the bourse (in December 2006).

Just within half a month, FPT share prices increased by 46 times compared to the face value, helping raise the capitalization value of the company to VND28 trillion.

The 10 richest Vietnamese business people recognized by the media 10 years ago are no longer found in the top 10 list of stock millionaires.
The assets of FPT owners increased rapidly. Truong Gia Binh, FPT’s president, who held 5.12 million FPT shares, became the richest stock millionaire at that time.

With the closing price of VND460,000 per FPT shares on December 29, 2006, Binh had VND2.4 trillion worth of stock assets.

The high FPT share price put Le Quang Tien and Bui Quang Ngoc, two deputy CEOs of FPT, in the second and third positions. Tien, with 3.71 million FPT shares, had VND1.7 trillion, while Ngoc, with 2.6 million shares, had VND1.2 trillion.

The fourth position 10 years ago belonged to the general director of Minh Phu Seafood JSC Le Van Quang, who then held 14.5 million MPC shares, worth VND1.145 trillion.

Chu Thi Binh, deputy general director of the company, with the same amount of shares, was also in the fourth position.

The sixth and eighth positions on the 2006 list of richest stock millionaires, once again belonged to FPT’s shareholders - Hoang Minh Chau, deputy chair and deputy CEO, with VND937 billion, and Do Cao Bao, a member of the board of directors, with VND891 billion.

Meanwhile, chair of the Saigon Securities Incorporated (SSI) Nguyen Duy Hung was in the seventh position with VND909 billion.

Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh, called the ‘powerful woman’, chair and CEO of the Refrigeration Engineering Enterprise (REE), was in the ninth position with VND887.4 billion. And Tran Kim Thanh, chair of Kinh Do Group, which was renamed Kido, was in the 10th position with VND836.2 billion.

However, the list of the richest businesspeople changed a lot just one year later. Dang Thanh Tam from Tan Tao Group became the richest stock millionaire in the 2007 list.

However, both Binh, who topped the 2006 list, and Tam, who topped the 2007 list, are no longer the richest stock millionaires.

Binh of FPT is now in the 17th position with VND1.438 trillion worth of stock assets. Tam ranks 18th with VND1.375 trillion.

Doan Nguyen Duc, president of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, who topped the 2008 list, has also fallen from the position.

The number 1 position belongs to Pham Nhat Vuong, president of Vingroup, established as a real estate group. It has invested in many different business fields.
