Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing all aspects of life, from economic operations to social advancements.
Businesses, in particular, are leveraging AI to optimize performance, reduce costs, and personalize customer interactions.
Doan Viet Dung, CEO of Hesman, which operates 34 Shopdunk stores and 32 Samcenter locations, emphasized the importance of digital transformation.
With thousands of SKUs and multiple sales channels, his company relies on AI to optimize inventory decisions and procurement strategies.
AI helps businesses analyze trends, predict demand, and streamline supply chains for efficiency and profitability.
Experts agree that AI is becoming indispensable, bringing profound changes to industries such as customer service, human resources, healthcare, and transportation.
Dao Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of the Institute of Blockchain Technology and AI (ABAII), noted that AI is revolutionizing business operations in Vietnam by enhancing data analysis, improving decision-making, and automating repetitive tasks.
For instance, AI is increasingly used in customer service to tailor experiences based on individual preferences. It also plays a significant role in recruitment by analyzing job applications and identifying the most suitable candidates.
In healthcare, AI aids in diagnosing diseases and recommending treatment plans by analyzing medical images and patient data.
“Vietnamese businesses must develop clear strategies and invest in AI training programs to fully capitalize on these opportunities,” Thanh stated. “AI adoption requires careful planning and effort, but the benefits far outweigh the challenges.”
Seizing AI Opportunities for Growth

Vietnamese startups are actively embracing AI, driven by market demand and supportive government policies.
According to Do Thang, CEO of SandboxVN, AI is not just a business tool but an essential part of daily life. His company is helping enterprises integrate AI into operations, aiming to serve 5,000 businesses by 2028.
The government has been vocal about the “national resurgence” in AI, encouraging startups to participate in this technological revolution.
According to Google’s research, AI could contribute an estimated $79.3 billion to Vietnam’s economy by 2030, accounting for nearly 12% of the country’s GDP.
To fully harness AI’s potential, Vietnam must strengthen its technological infrastructure, build a skilled workforce, and ensure AI accessibility across industries.
The AI Opportunity Agenda for Vietnam, published by Google, highlights the need for investment in digital education, workforce training, and policy frameworks to foster innovation.
Government Initiatives and AI Talent Development
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has outlined a roadmap for developing Vietnam’s semiconductor and AI industries.
Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung confirmed that by 2030, Vietnam aims to have at least 5,000 highly skilled AI engineers to support the semiconductor sector.
Additionally, the National Innovation Center is collaborating with international experts to establish an AI Training, Research, and Application Center. The goal is to train 7,000 AI specialists by 2030 and incubate 500 AI startups.
These proactive measures position Vietnam as a future hub for AI innovation, strengthening its role in ASEAN and the global technology landscape.
