Founded in 1981, the Russian State Ballet is one of the most respected touring ballet companies, featuring artists who have collaborated with major theaters worldwide. Known for its strong grounding in the Russian classical ballet tradition, the company combines technical precision with expressive depth, captivating audiences in more than 40 countries with timeless works such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and Romeo and Juliet.

During this return to Vietnam, audiences will have the opportunity to experience Romeo and Juliet, a ballet adaptation of William Shakespeare’s literary masterpiece, set to the dramatic score of Sergei Prokofiev.

The work blends the enduring tragedy of love with powerful physical expression, where refined pas de deux intertwine with grand staging to fully convey the emotional intensity and romantic spirit of the story.

Alongside it, The Nutcracker, the celebrated ballet set to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will be performed with live accompaniment by the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra.

The production invites audiences into a vibrant fairy-tale world, where imagination comes alive through the signature movements of Russian classical ballet. With its structured choreography, elaborate costumes and refined technique, the piece stands as both a symbol of the festive season and a testament to the enduring beauty of classical ballet.

Previously, in April 2025, the Russian State Ballet left a strong impression in Hanoi with its performance of Swan Lake, receiving enthusiastic responses from both audiences and critics.

That success reaffirmed the lasting appeal of Russian ballet among Vietnamese audiences, while also strengthening cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries.

This upcoming program offers Vietnamese audiences a rare opportunity to witness the refined artistry of Russian classical ballet within the elegant setting of Ho Guom Theatre.

The three performances on March 25, 26 and 27 are expected to deliver a high-level aesthetic experience, enriching Hanoi’s cultural life in the spring of 2026.
