VietNamNet Bridge – The team of Brazilian football stars is not expected to visit Vietnam because the sponsor cannot pay the expenses of US$1 million as requested by the partner.
Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) – Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – said that this affair was facing financial troubles so the possibility of success was very low.
"The VFF has assigned the VFF Secretariat to help the sponsor in this deal, but there are some problems," Tuan said.
According to Tuan, the foreign partner asked the sponsor, a Vietnamese company, to pay $1 million for the visit of the team of Brazilian football stars to Vietnam in 2016.
Meanwhile, the VFF can only summon the Vietnam national team and pay the organizational costs for the game between the Vietnam team and the guest team.
Previously, VFF had announced that Brazilian superstar Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, more commonly known as Ronaldo, would be one of many Brazilian big name players coming to Hanoi in April 2016.
Speaking at a press conference on January 1, VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh said a deal was in the works to bring a team featuring Brazilian football legends Rivaldo, Romario, Cafu, Kaka, Bebeto, Denilson, and Lucio as well.
The games scheduled for April 16, 2016 at My Dinh Stadium will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Eurosports, and Youtube channels.
In the past, the Brazilian Olympic team came to Hanoi in 2008 and had a friendly match with the Vietnam national team. At that time, the guest team had Ronaldinho, Pato, Anderson, Marcelo ... The game created a storm at the My Dinh National Stadium. The guest defeated the home team 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Pato and Thiago Neves.
