During a flight to Vietnam last week, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko successfully administered emergency medical treatment to a passenger suffering from a hypertensive crisis.
According to Rossiskaya Gazeta, Russian media on the evening of September 14 published footage showing Minister Mikhail Murashko assisting a fellow passenger onboard a flight to Hanoi.
“Approximately three hours after takeoff on a flight to Vietnam last week, a 50-year-old man suddenly experienced a hypertensive crisis. The cabin crew asked whether any medical professionals were on board who could provide emergency aid, and it happened that Minister Murashko was among the passengers. He immediately intervened to treat and reassure the man, who returned to a stable condition after about an hour,” Russian news outlet Shot reported.
A hypertensive crisis is a medical emergency in which blood pressure spikes to dangerously high levels (≥ 180/120 mmHg), potentially causing acute damage to vital organs such as the brain, heart, or kidneys. If not promptly and correctly treated, this condition can be life-threatening.
Minister Murashko was visiting Vietnam from September 12 to 14 to discuss the supply of medical equipment, workforce training, scientific research cooperation, and the expansion of medical tourism initiatives between the two countries.
