Viet Nam basketball team Saigon Heat defeated Westports Malaysia Dragons of Malaysia 102-88 in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) at CIS Arena in HCM City on March 11.

Westports Malaysia Dragons took the lead with a score of 5-0. However, the hosts fought back with Akeem Scott, Maxie Esho and Michael Williams, who helped the Heat lead at the end of the first quarter 26-22.
Later in the game, with two three-point shots by Williams, the Heat opened the gap. While the visitors played to narrow the gap, the quarter concluded with the score of 48-41 in favour of the Heat.
The hosts still dominated in the third period, with a score of 69-64.
In the final quarter, the visitors attacked, however, they were disappointed in not being able to level the score. Scott scored 12 points in last five minutes to help the Heat win the game 102-88.
With this victory, the Heat are expected to earn a ticket to compete in the next stage, while the Dragons will have to end their competition.
The Heat will next meet San Miguel Alab Pilipinas of the Philippines on March 14. — VNS
