The scholarship award program was organized by Phap Luat TP.HCM Newspaper, in coordination with Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), and the provincial Communist Youth Union.

Duong Thi Bich Nghi, a ninth grader of Binh Thanh Secondary School, said: “I am delighted to receive this scholarship, and I will give it to my mother to buy some essential items for our family. I promise I will study harder to deserve the donors’ support.”

Speaking at the event, Cat Thi Kim Xuan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the paper, expected the gifts will encourage the children to study hard and become good students as well as good citizens to help contribute to the further growth of their hometown. Representing the Editing Board, Xuan expressed her sincere thanks to sponsors, the district’s leader and all of the children and their parents taking part in the event.

“We hope local authorities and sponsors will continue to support further meaningful programs like this,” she added.

Tran Trong Dung, chairman of the HCMC Journalists’ Association, stated that this is a realistic social security program. Through the HCMC Journalists’ Association, Agribank could offer support to disadvantaged families and enable them to have better living conditions.
