At noon on August 30, authorities in Cu Yen Commune, Luong Son District, Hoa Binh Province, confirmed the tragic incident in which two students were swept away by floodwaters while on their way home from school.

The two victims, aged between 6 and 7 years old, were students at Cu Yen Primary and Secondary School. According to local officials, the children were holding hands while crossing a spillway when they tragically slipped and were swept away by the current.

As of now, the search and rescue team has recovered the body of one child approximately 1 kilometer from the spillway. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining student.
